Wild Earth Allies works to protect the planet's vital biodiversity in targeted, sustainable, and culturally appropriate ways. Each day, they fight to protect wildlife and habitats by partnering with the communities that live closest to them.

Their initiatives to conserve wildlife and protect critical habitats through collaboration at the local level include protection for Asian Elephants in Cambodia, Great Apes in Central Africa, Threatened Trees of Belize, and Marine Turtles in the eastern Pacific.

Here is just one example of how their efforts help both the wildlife they strive to protect and the local community:

In Rwanda, they expanded their household rainwater tank program, benefiting communities and reducing threats to mountain gorillas. Together with the women-led cooperative Imberenheza Gahunga, families have now build 75 water tanks, meeting the daily water needs of more than 1,400 people in 300 households. Beneficiaries reported children staying in school, improved hygiene, reduced health problems, and no longer needed to enter gorilla habitat to collect water. They are also scaling this program to build 500 tanks in the most vulnerable communities bordering Volcanoes National Park. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, last year they planted 11,306 tree seedlings to improve the well-being of families in the region and reforest key gorilla habitat.
