Product Care

Following our product care instructions will continue to help the planet and make sure that your activewear will have a long and active life. Anna personally tested these yoga pants for over a year (regularly practicing and teaching yoga and hiking in them) to make sure they held up to regular use and washing, so they won’t wear out quickly and end up in a landfill. Here are her suggestions to help both your activewear and the planet:

Use

Please note that contact with rough surfaces and velcro fasteners should be avoided when wearing your leggings or capris, since they can pull out the white fibers in the fabric, damaging the leggings’ appearance.

Washing

Wash in cold water with mild laundry soap (non-toxic, biodegradable types preferred). To conserve water and minimize wear and tear, wash only when it’s necessary. Do not use bleach. Do not dry clean.

Line Dry

Line dry your clothing whenever possible. Line drying saves energy and reduces environmental impact. It will also extend the lifespan of your clothes. Even though the white tag inside the garment says “Tumble Dry Medium”, please line dry.

Microfiber Pollution Prevention - Use a Guppyfriend!

Put your clothing into a filter bag such as the Guppyfriend Wash Bag before washing to significantly reduce the flow of microfibers into your drain!

Microfibers released from washing harm the environment. With each wash, countless plastic fibers from synthetic textiles are making their way from washing machines into rivers and oceans. The Guppyfriend Washing Bag is a patented solution, that filters out the tiniest microfibers released from textiles during washing. The self-cleaning fabric bag is made of a specially designed micro-filter material. Simply collect the fibers and dispose them of properly. The Guppyfriend significantly reduces breakage of fibers, the fibers that do break are held back reliably, the clothes get clean and the Guppyfriend keeps harmful microplastic from entering our rivers and oceans for a long time.

The Guppyfriend Washing Bag is only a first step towards a holistic solution to microfiber pollution. Not more. Not less. Our overconsumption needs to change radically, and new materials, manufacturing techniques, clean washing machines and more effective sewage treatment plants need to be developed. This might take a while. Until then your Guppyfriend Washing Bag is a practical and effective way to reduce plastic pollution in our rivers and oceans.

The profits from the sale of the Guppyfriend Washing Bag go to STOP! Micro Waste and the STOP! Plastic Academy to raise awareness about (micro)plastic pollution and to educate students, adults and industry partners about the problem. STOP! Micro Waste is a nonprofit initiative to explore and initiate ideas on how to avoid, replace and re-use plastics. It was initiated by LANGBRETT, a group of surfers and nature lovers.
